Our First Cruise: The Disney Dream

Disney Dream

I think my favorite family vacation has to be the 3-night cruise on the Disney Dream.  I love everything Disney, but this cruise was truly magical for my family.

In 2012, we decided that we wanted to shift our families focus from buying things for our kids into taking annual family vacations. We were cleaning our garage and realized that the majority of the boxes contained barley touched clothes and toys; most of which were acquired during Christmas.

For Christmas, we decided to start a new tradition.  We would allow the kids to get 1-2 gifts that they wanted, and then we would announce our family vacation.

The very first announcement was our Disney Cruise Family Vacation.

Our Vacation on the Disney Dream

Disney Dream is the third ship in the Disney Cruise Line.

Disney has a way of making you feel the magic from the moment you enter the port.  While there is a wait to enter the ship, you should sign-up for the kids club and take advantage of all of the great spots to take family photos.

As you board the ship you are announced like the royal family that you are. This was so cool!

The ship is HUGE!!! There is plenty to do onboard.

Didn’t bring the kids? No worries! There were many childless couples on board.  I’m still trying to figure out how to pull one off without guilt attached.

Food– I was four months pregnant.  Believe me I ate everything that I could.  All of it was great! My favorite dish was the twice baked potato. I think that I ordered every night.

Room Service also delivers food to the stateroom for FREE!!! We closed each night with the cheese tray each night.

Bahamas – The first port- We ventured to the straw market. We felt extremely safe the entire time.  We spent about an 1 hour or so walking around then headed back to the ship for a scavenger hunt.

Catasway Cay- Final port-  This was the highlight of our trip. It was so much to do. The island was immaculate. The kids wanted to stay!

Stateroom- We stayed in the Family Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom. We had two large portholes.  There was more than enough room four our family of four.

I loved it! It is my dream to go back so I can slide on the AquaDuck.  I was pregnant the last time, and couldn’t.  I was sad, but it just gave me a reason to go back.
