6 Ways to get your family organized this summer

Learn how to get organized this summer with this post sponsored by Chapes-JPL.

Like most people, we’ve spent way more than the average amount of time inside of our homes. We’ve created makeshift work spaces and classrooms. If you are like me, then you’ve noticed just how disorganized and cluttered my house is. Ready to get organized? Then, this summer you will be organizing. Here are some of my best tips for year-round organization in a family:

Keep a calendar

This is the first step to organizing a home. It is important to keep all your for your family routines, appointments, and events in one place. There are several styles and types of calendars that you can keep: planners, desk calendars, calendars on your device, wall calendars, etc.

I currently use a planner and a wall calendar to stay organized.

The planner serves as the hub for all things that deal with family: finances, cleaning schedule, appointments, you name it. It all goes into the planner. You can decorate it or keep it simple. It is up to you. Make sure to set aside one day a week to update your planner. This will keep you current and not overbooked!

I transfer all important information to the wall calendar so the family can see. It is color coded so each person know what applies to just them or to the family as a whole.

Get organized financially

Budgeting is a top priority. Have a trip planned this summer? Small project you want to work on? Debt you want to eliminate? Getting organized financially, can help you figure out where all of your money is going and how you can save towards your goals.

If you need help reducing your high-interest debt (so helpful when it comes to saving money), check out Chapes-JPL. They are a local Atlanta business that is committed to providing low-interest asset loans and they also say, “we buy gold Loganville!”

They do not only buy gold, though. They also buy all valuables like diamonds, watches, and other jewelry. Chapes-JPL has one simple goal, to provide affordable asset loans on jewelry, gold, diamonds, watches, and other valuables, which helps their customers get back on track financially. They have a 4.9 star rating on Google, 5 star rating on Yelp, and 4.6 star rating on Facebook. Go read some of those to find out more information on why they are the best lender in the US.

Ask for help when you need it

As a mom, this is the last thing that we want to do. For some reason, help is a dirty four letter word. Oh, it is just me?

The is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help; especially if you need it. Whether it is hired help to declutter or cleaning, or asking a family member to watch your kids for a couple hours. Seek help when you need it. This will definitely help with time management and allow you to get more things done. You can focus on the things that you can do and want to do.

You will feel much more relieved and less stress when you do!

Meal plan

Meal planning is the best decision that I have made for getting organized. No more asking, “What’s for dinner?”

This tip can be done in conjunction with keeping a calendar. Write down all of your family’s favorite meals. Spread them throughout the week. Then, fill in the rest of the week with leftovers or recipes that you find or have been wanting to try.

You can create your plan based on items that you already have, or create a shopping list while you are planning.

Get your kids involved in chores

There is nothing wrong with having your kids complete a few simple tasks around the house. It may be time consuming and frustrating, it is necessary. I know that it is easier and faster to just do it yourself, but teaching your child important life skills gives them a greater sense of self worth, achievement and independence. Also, once they get the hang of it, you get a little free time to yourself. WIN!!

Use the Basket Method as simple chore for younger kids. Have the kids pick up the random toys and clutter that has accumulated around the house by the end of the day. Teach them where everything goes to they can properly store them. Make it fun!! Play music or use a timer. They will enjoy clean up time.

Keep it simple

Give yourself grace. Don’t stress! Simply take a step back and see what is really going on.

What habits to you want to eliminate? Do you have a laundry routine in place? Are you tired of looking for items that are not in their proper place?

Find all of the areas that you want to improve and put a plan in place. Take 15 – 30 minutes out of each day and work on those things. You may not be able to make a drastic change over night, but you will be well on your way.

What tips would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments!
